Vital Sand Company Executives
Mike Schwarzmann – CEO
Mike Schwarzmann began his real estate career in 1984 with small residential projects. Since then Schwarzmann has developed dozens of residential subdivisions in Southeast and South-Central Wisconsin. Mike’s development model is primarily focused on acquisition of development land and the procurement of necessary entitlements, approvals and permits. Most of the properties Mike developed during the past three decades were sold to other developer/builders.
Mike has developed industrial and commercial centers. In addition to several big box retail projects, Mike has successfully developed the land and entitlement packages for two Factory Outlet Centers and a Waterpark Hotel. North Dakota was the setting for an additional 400 acres of mixed-use development between 2006 and 2013.
These projects included a corporate headquarters site for a major oil service company and a residential development for a national home builder. The Hyatt House Hotel in Minot, ND is located on another developed parcel.
North Dakota projects introduced Schwarzmann to the frac sand world. Schwarzmann’s previous frac sand project, on the CN railway, became one of the three largest in Wisconsin in terms of acreage and sand reserves.
Mike has joined forces with strategic operators and business, real estate and technology developers to form Vital Sand, which now has multiple developments underway to service the energy and microchip industries.
Jon Sopher – Project Manager
Jon Sopher is a development and sales leader with extensive experience in commercial and residential real estate development and construction. Sopher has management experience at all levels of the process from concept planning to project completion. Sopher has both the vision to see untapped potential and the experience to intuitively solve the problem. As a founder of Coulee Frac Sand, Sopher identified property suitable for a sand mine and qualified the sand resource. He then developed key relationships with public officials and represented CFS with government agencies throughout the permitting, public hearing and submittal process. He then initiated and developed the client relationship leading to the presale of the entire frac sand resource.
Sopher enjoys fitting the project puzzle pieces together as they are presented. This has resulted in many successful real estate projects in and around Onalaska and Tomah, Wisconsin. He has also built custom homes for clients in the LaCrosse, Wisconsin and Rochester Minnesota areas; along with many others in the suburbs of Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota.
